Testimonials

My son attended The Evolution Centre after having bad experiences elsewhere.  He was a very angry boy who hated school and everything to do with it, in his words "he was never going again".  When he went to The Evolution Centre he was told very clearly, if you do what is expected of you will be able to do out of school activities as part of your programme.  Jacqui never backed down on what she said and this was so good for him.  She was firm, but very fair, and when he faced difficulties she made adjustments to help the situation.  My son attended school and did his work, he came away with exam results better than he could of expected. He excelled at the garage and with his hard work and attitude towards work he's now secured an apprentiship there.  If it hadnt been for The evolution Centre that wouldnt have been possible.  I never thought I would be writing this about my son, I cant thank Jacqui and her team enough, they have totally turned things around for him.  I cant recommend the school enough.

The teachers always have an adaptive teaching style to support and educate my young persons complex needs. Excellent communication is kept between the head teacher and myself to ensure any current issues are shared immediately.

"Once again it was a positive meeting, it is clear you and your staff know him so well and really are ensuring he reaches his potential, thank you".

All the members of staff seem to be working with a consistent approach to the young person - celebrating achievements.  There is more hope for the future of this young person as all staff have developed a good understanding of the needs and there is a plan in place for progression.

“The Evolution Centre has been extremely effective in supporting a young person to achieve positive outcomes within his education. Given the limited time remaining in his academic studies, the Evolution Centre enabled our young person to leave Year 11 with a number of qualifications and nationally recognised awards which is a fantastic achievement given the time constraints. The Evolution Centre adopted various strategies to support the student to attend and engage within the school environment, including out of hours schooling, after school clubs, home tuition and one to one educational support.”

The school has given this young man the opportunity to learn in a safe and nurturing environment.  The staff are incredibly skilled and passionate about giving the young people aspirations for a great future.  The change in the young person has been quite remarkable during his time at the Evolution Centre and now he actually enjoys learning and achieving.

Social Worker, Bournemouth

Before A moved to the Evolution Center despite an evident capability to learn, his previous school was not pushing him to his full potential, his SAT result showed this to be the case,

Upon moving to the Evolution Center A's attitude to learn has changed, he is excelling in most of his subjects (With the exception of PE.... He cannot stand PE) he is working at levels way beyond his years, the staff are amazing & A speaks very highly of all of his teachers, they have an amazing relationship & as a parent living in a different county, I am always kept up to date with everything A is doing, he has grown & developed in so many ways & I am very proud of not only him, but the staff for their abilities & thankful for what they have helped A to acheive.

"There are excellent working relationships between the school staff and the students' carers.  Consequently there is a high level of consistency of expectations between the home and school setting for each student.  This provides the security that these students need in order to get the most out of life and be able to move on successfully to the next stage of their education or employment".

OFSTED Inspector, Mark Mumby September 2009

"A particular strength of the provision is the very small teaching groups which enable teachers to focus precisely on each students needs.  This is complemented by the important part played by the students' carers who attend the school each day alongside the students.  They provide pastoral support and help to manage behaviour".

OFSTED Inspector, Mark Mumby September 2009

"The curriculum for all students is underpinned with excellent themes and activities which address their emotional literacy, personal learning and thinking skills, and social development. Personal timetables are provided for individual students which enable them to benefit from regular, full-day, outdoor education or off-site vocational training in, for example, vehicle maintenance, rural skills or hairdressing".

OFSTED Inspector, David Young November 2012

"The curriculum is outstanding, providing students with a rich, engaging range of academic, vocational and practical activities. Arrangements for the welfare, health and safety of students, including safeguarding, are outstanding. Students, parents and carers are unanimous in their appreciation of the quality of what the school provides".

OFSTED Inspector, David Young November 2012

“The curriculum is vibrant and carefully designed to engage pupils’ interest so that they want to attend school and do well. The ongoing attention to building resilience and confidence works extremely well, so that pupils take progressively higher level qualifications in key stage 3 and key stage 4”

"School have clearly accomodated our young persons needs with a flexible and holistic approach.  Staff are passionate about his progress and potential"

I am so pleased with my young person’s progress at The Evolution centre, one year ago she had not been in any form of education for over a year and has now, with the support of the school, completed 5 GCSE’S.

“Pupils make outstanding progress from starting points that are below and sometimes well below those of others of their age……

This outstanding progress is the result of highly effective teaching and learning, work that is very closely tailored to the next step for each pupil, improved attendance and the turnaround in pupils’ cooperation, attitudes and aspirations.”

OFSTED Inspector, Susan Lewis, april 2016

“Teaching inspires pupils to try their best and incites in them a curiosity and confidence to find out things and try new challenges. Pupils, for example, praise the project work that they do and the ways in which it helps them to work as a team and ‘bounce things off each other to solve problems"

OFSTED Inspector, Susan Lewis, April 2016

“The school is ever conscious of the need to build pupils’ resilience and provide them with strategies for situations they find difficult. It tracks carefully a range of personal skills to evaluate the impact of their work and leaders look carefully at what else can put into the curriculum to strengthen this further.”
